Black History Week
From Monday 17th to Friday 21st October, we celebrated Black History Week at Park Lane Primary School. This year's theme was Celebrating Black British Culture and our black British Champion was Stormzy due to his incredible contribution to black British Culture. The children have looked in depth at Stormzy's rise to fame, his success and childhood. Our pupils have written poems, created works of art and have produced some incredible pieces of writing.
The highlight of the week, however, was our annual carnival. We did not let the weather dampen our spirits and instead of the dance party in the playground, we used the school hall. Children from EYFS and KS1enjoyed a party in the morning where they paraded their colourful costumes and head dresses created in the week leading up to the carnival. In the afternoon, it was the turn of KS2 who also enjoyed parading for their classmates before getting stuck into the dance party.
