Park Lane Primary School

Lifelong Learning Together

September 2015

I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer holiday, is well rested and excited to be starting the 2015/16 school year.  It has been lovely to see all the familiar faces of children and staff returning to Park Lane Primary School. I would like to welcome all the new children starting in the Nursery, in Ladybird and Butterfly Reception classes, and in other year levels, joining us from other schools.

Welcome also, to our new staff members who are joining an existing team of enthusiastic and dynamic educators and carers.

Let us set and maintain a high standard at Park Lane Primary School by ensuring our children arrive at school on time, having had a nutritious breakfast and in the correct uniform.  School starts promptly at 8:50 AM so children should arrive with at least 5 minutes to spare; they can greet their friends while lining up before the school bell rings.  Children should also be collected promptly from their class teachers, at 3:15 PM (KS1) and 3:20 PM (KS2).

Parents/carers should encourage their children to complete their homework several days prior to its due date.  This will ensure children enjoy their home learning, rather than feeling the pressure of completing work under time constraints.

As we wave goodbye to the summer and the cooler months approach, it's the perfect time to sit down with your children and read their favorite stories.  Older children may wish to read to you.  This is a fantastic way to nurture a love of reading, inspire imagination and develop all aspects of literacy.
