Curriculum

Here at Park Lane our curriculum is creative and responsive, taking advantage of any learning outside of the classroom. In particular, we are proud of the ways children engage creatively with ICT as technology is an increasingly important feature of modern life that we want our children to be prepared for.

We teach the National Curriculum in Key Stages 1 and 2, and the Early Years Framework in Nursery and Reception. A creative approach is employed in regards to our curriculum, whereby subjects are taught through a variety of over-arching themes and focused subject/skills weeks. Our curriculum is seen as ever-evolving and ever-changing, to reflect the transient nature of the world and society we live in.

We send out curriculum overviews to parents at the start of each term so that they are fully aware of the teaching and learning content that their children will be exposed to over the forthcoming term. Details about specific programmes of study are available either in the Year Group Handbook (Parent information section of the website) or at the DFE website follow this link;

How to support your child:

Encourage your child to read books. While modern technology has many benefits, you can’t curl up with a computer!

Get involved with your child’s homework; discuss tasks with them and the different ways which they can complete these.
