Free School Meals

We would like each parent to check if they are eligible for free school meals as this not only saves you money but brings in valuable funds to the school.

Universal Infant Free School Meal

The Government recognises the importance of children receiving a nutritionally balanced hot meal during the school day, as a result, from September 2014 all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be entitled to a free school meal. This is known as Universal Infant Free School Meals and is not linked to earnings or benefits.

The school will provide a daily hot lunch, there are two choices of main meal (a vegetarian option is always available), salad, fresh fruit and dessert. There are three menus that rotate weekly.

Even if you don’t want your child to eat the meal on a daily basis, it is important that you sign up for Universal Infant Free School Meal as the school’s funding will be reduced if you don’t. To complete the application for Universal Infant Free School Meals please either collect an application form from the school office or apply online by following this link http://www.brent.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals.

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium Grant

For children who are in Nursery, Year 3, 4, 5 or 6 and whose parents are in receipt of benefits, the Government will provide Pupil Premium Grant funding to the school to support and enrich the children’s experience of school as well as funding a daily Free School Meal. You do not need to eat the free meal but in order to determine if your child is eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant then you must apply for Free School Meals. There is more information on how we at Park Lane Primary School use the Pupil Premium Grant in the Pupil Premium section of this website.

If you would like to find out if your child qualifies for a Free School Meal and Pupil Premium Funding then please apply online by following this link.

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and you would like to find out if your child is eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant, you do not need to fill in another application form as the one completed for Universal Infant Free School Meals will allow the Local Authority to assess your eligibility.
