Park Lane Primary School

Lifelong Learning Together

September 2016

The 2016/17 school year is now under way for students in years 1 to 6, with the children in Nursery and Reception gradually joining their perspective classes, through to mid-September. I hope everyone enjoyed the long summer break and is now enthusiastic about their return to school.  I would like to welcome all new students to Park Lane Primary School and look forward to working with staff, governors and parents/carers to ensure their children develop as independent, lifelong learners ready to face the challenges of the future.

I hope you will join me in welcoming several new members of staff to the Park Lane Primary School team:

Zainab Moosa – 2G Class teacher

Benjamin Mansour – 3Y Class teacher

Jason White – 5G Class teacher

Lucy Smith – 6G Class teacher

Abigail White – Music Teacher, and

            Melanie Sparrow – Inclusion Leader.

A warm welcome back to the familiar faces of existing staff members and students!

It was an emotional end to the 2015/16 school year as we waved goodbye to our year 6 pupils, who are now attending High School.  We hope they have enjoyed their time here at Park Lane Primary School and wish them luck and success, in whatever the future holds.

Just prior to their departure, Year 6 attended PGL where they engaged in a range of activities designed to promote a love of the outdoors, team building and self-reliance.  The children and staff had fun participating in archery, quad biking and on the zip wire.  A PGL trip has been planned for the 2016/17 school year for students from the current year 6 classes.

During the Graduation Ceremony of the class of 2016, Park Lane Primary School bid a fond farewell to governor David Knight, who retired after 20 years of service to our school.  We thank him for all the contributions he has made during this time.
