Park Lane Primary School

Lifelong Learning Together

November 2017

It is with deep regret that we informed you of the death of Mrs Zakia Khanji. The school has lost a dear friend and a valued colleague. I would like to remind you that the school will be closing early at 2pm next Wednesday 22nd November and that Mrs Kanji’s memorial service will start at 2.30pm. Children who would like to attend the service are welcome to do so if they are accompanied by an adult.

It has been a busy few weeks. Firstly, I would like to congratulate all the children who participated in the interschool Football Tournament on Friday 03rd November. Park Lane Primary School came third and the team will now be entering the national competition in June 2018.

Last week, year 6 attended Junior Citizens’ Day at the Bridge Park Leisure Centre and on 16th November year 4 visited the British Museum to enhance their understanding of Ancient Rome which they have been learning about.

The week commencing 13th November was National Anti-Bullying Week. Children have been taking part in many activities in their classes. This year’s theme is “All different, All equal”. A few children from year 6 have been selected to talk to younger children from KS1 about how wrong bullying is and how we can stop it. We also had the visit of Terry, a student from the Convent of Jesus and Mary Language College, on Friday 10th November who came to talk to the children during a whole School Assembly. Next week will be Road Safety Week.

We are delighted to inform you that our Leading Practitioner Beverley Wilson has published a children’s book called Tafari The Special Child. The book is available to buy from Amazon and we would like to encourage all parents to buy a copy.
