This half term the children in years 3 to 6 had the opportunity of ice skating at the LDO. This was an experience they all enjoyed regardless of their ability on the ice. The children from EYFS and KS1 were treated to a special Halloween Disco on 3rd November, and the whole school had the opportunity to show off their dance moves, on December 9th at the annual PSA School Disco.
There have been several curriculum trips, including year 4’s visit to the Verulamium Museum where they went on an exciting journey back in time to Verulamium during the reign of Ancient Rome. Year 5 visited the British Museum to view Anglo Saxon treasures, and year 1 went on a scientific trip to the Bracknell Discovery Centre. Year 3 were fortunate to take part in an onsite, science workshop about lovely light and Reception attended their first school trip to see the living nativity at the London Zoo.
Anti-bullying Week took place on November 14 to 18th and all classes participated in various discussions about this year’s theme Power for Good. Dr Bike spoke to the children about the benefits of riding their bikes to school during an assembly on November 15th, and on November 17th the children who rode their bikes/scooters to school, were treated to a healthy free breakfast whilst Dr Bike and his team of mechanics performed safety checks and basic maintenance on their bikes.
Some of the children’s art work is currently on display in the waiting room at Wembley Central Station. If you have the opportunity, do be sure to pop in and have a look!
During our cake sale and coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support, Park Lane Primary School raised £742.38; and during our Children in Need non-uniform day, we raised £331.16. Thank you to all the children, parents and staff for their generosity.
There have been many outstanding performances during class assemblies over the last two months. Well done to all the children for learning their lines and to the staff for these wonderful presentations. Two assemblies that require special mention are the KS1 Nativity and the EYFS nativity; I am sure all the parents/carers agree that the children were adorable.
On December 14th, the children sat down together to enjoy a special Christmas school dinner. They had lots of fun as the children wore paper crowns, shared crackers and jokes whilst they ate their meals.
I enjoyed seeing so many parents/carers at the second of our Head Teacher’s Coffee Mornings for the school year. During the coffee morning, the Brent oral health nurse spoke about maintaining good oral health and the school nurse spoke about healthy eating.
