Lifelong Learning Together

Black History Week

This week, the children and staff at Park Lane Primary School have been engaged in a range of learning activities in celebration of Black History.  This years them is the Windrush Generation, and we have been looking at the economic and cultural contributions they have made to Britain, along with celebrated artists like Tam Joseph and Denzil Forrester.  We  have also been learning all about the HMT Empire Windrush.

The week was launched during a special assembly led by Miss Merrigan, on Monday 16th October.  During the assembly, the school's dance club gave a performance in honour of the 75th anniversary of the HMT Empire Windrush's arrival in Britain.

Parents and friends of the school were invited to attend a special art exhibition on Thursday 19th October.  The school hall was transferred into an art gallery, displaying the many and varied compositions of pupils from across the school population, nursery right through to year 6, who have taken their inspiration from the wonderful stories of the Windrush generation and their descendants.
